First post so don't shout at me!

Can anyone recommend the most favourable seat for someone travelling alone in UC on the Config 4 747? I am flying on the VS019 next May on a reward ticket. Most seats are available. Not my first time in UC but my first time on this config so any help appreciated.

Also, I have booked an extra legroom seat on the return from JFK (this is an open-jaw res). Has anyone had any experience of these seats? Should I stick with it or try to upgade with miles to PE?? I'm unsure as I have never flown VS economy. I'm 6'2 if that helps the debate.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to V-Flyer. We certainly won't shout at you - we're kind :D

I can't answer for the extra legroom seats. Someone else will do that. However for your flight on VS19 my recommendation would be any seat in Zone A, the pointy bit downstairs. Any seat there is fine but some lone travellers swear by seat 19. The A side will give you the better views when you fly into SFO

Enjoy! y)

This isn't FT :0 :0 . As HL says we don't shout :) .
Same advice for the nose of the 747 from me too and if your ticket is booked in a miles upgradeable class I would recommend doing so as I find the space in Y on VS unbearable (and I'm 5ft nothing :0 ).
Welcome to v- flyer by the way :) .

Hey Medway - I usually fly alone on business and my preferred option is a seat with the minimal people next to you. It's great you are in UC to SFO but why the economy back from JFK?

That said, if you are on a 747 to SFO I would go for 19A or 19K - advantage is you are in the A zone, which is the best place, then you have no one behind you, even better. And less footfall too.

On your return I cannot help you in the U cabin!

Welcome to V-Flyer

I have never flown in UC but can say that economy is not unbearable on the shorter flights (US east coast) but if you have the opportunity to get an exit row or extra room seat it may be worth it.
if you can move in to premium economy I would go for it.

The 'extra legroom' are only 3 inches extra I believe. Haven't tried them before though. I'm 6'3" and can definitely recommend buying an exit row seat in Y if you're not overly keen on using your miles for PE - especially as you get way more leg room in the former. But if you've got loads of miles and you're on the right code fare, then you might as well go for PE.
