Hi guys,

My first post on here, hello all!

Here goes - 4 of us are off to NYC on 2nd December to 5th December as 2 of us reach the ripe old age of 40 around then....aaarrgghhh!

Anyway, I kindly donated some miles yonks ago for 2 of them on the 16:00 LHR to JFK returning on the 19:30. Both are PE (used my virgin amex upgrade vouchers too.)

I wanted to get 2 UC flights outbound for the 2 of us who have still to book, returning PE, but there is no availability for miles, so I'm contemplating just biting the bullet and buying at the sale fare - eek! Still pricey. What do you think are the chances of any mileage seats being freed up, or are we leaving it a bit close to the wire now, and should I just buy? (I have a companion ticket on my account but they are next to useless.) The main reason for me wanting 2 UC on the way out is that the others have always flown economy so I'd love to show them the clubhouse - and a few vinos before we hit NYC would go down a treat!

Thanks
Yvonne

PS loving the sale on Glasgow - Orlando mile redemption!

Welcome to V-Flyer

personally i would go for the sale fare now. if you wait you risk prices going up and there is no guarantee of more reward seats.

Welcome Yvonne!

As Chris has said above, I'd go for the sale fare!

Have a wonderful birthday in NYC!

It comes down to how much of a risk you want to take in there not being any seats available if you wait to book

As you are planing on buying PE and then upgrading (if possible) to UC on the outbound only (Of course booking UC return will also get you access to the JFK CH for you and your friends plus the extra luggage allowance for all that pre-christmas shopping you will end up doing) in which case you will need to be in a W/S ticket bucket.

Then keep checking the website to see if any UC 'G's become available and if so pounce on them and book as soon as you see them.

The other advice would generally be to be flexible in terms of dates of travel but that's not an option as you have fixed dates.

I am assuming you want to be on the same flights as your friends otherwise I'd also suggest you getting the 16:50 to JFK rather than the 16:00 to EWR though you could still get the 19:30 back and still get that for a sale UC fare. THere don't appear to be any sale fares for the 16:00/19:30 combination.
