Favourite New York Hotel

I stayed at the Palace in spring 2008 on a work trip. It is a big hotel with good facilities. I thought the location was great -- I like midtown. Other people might prefer to be further uptown or quite a bit further downtown, but I liked it.

The decor of my room was rather chintzy (as big American hotels often are) but I am probably a bit more fussy than most (I generally prefer more modern places). The view was terrific -- out onto the cathedral and across Manhattan. Really memorable. Make sure you ask for it!

Had breakfast a few times; pricey but nice. Staff were all very helpful and the service was faultless.

Recently returned from a 3 night stay at the New York Palace, think it is an excellent hotel. Booked a corner room which was very large with great views. The hotel have a fantastic cocktail bar called The Gilt Bar, pretty pricey but service & opportunities for people watching were excellent.

If looking for a special place for dinner try the Asiate Restaurant at the Manadarin Oriental hote. Its pricey but IMHO worth every cent.

For it's the Distrikt Hotel on west 50th Street. I stayed there in May/June and was totally impressed with the place. This was my 4th time in NYC and by far the best hotel I have stayed in. Already planning to stay there again.
