Hi All,

Well today has been quite amusing with that TA thread and also the responses on here.
Certain links have been perused and notes taken.
Virgin Atlantic at present doesn't appear to be doing very well....according to some reviews.
So then....I ask myself ....is this going to spoil my holiday next month.
The answer has to be no.
Having paid my money and taken my choice l am going quite happily with the flow here.
This will be our first UC experience and l am determined that it is going to be a very positive one.
Having booked Tristar to transport us from hotel to DTCI has to date been excellent. Car booked and already Virgin have authorised this, albeit we are still five weeks away.
Looking very much forward to the Clubhouse experience, not overly worried about getting a manicure, pedicure, massage, wet shave for DH etc etc...if we get it, fine, if we don't, does it really matter...of course not.
OLCI.....ha! Now that could be a worry....we have 14&15A currently assigned....are these good seats or not...your comments would be very helpful with this as if l find that when doing OLCI these seats have disappeared, what would be our other choice, travelling on VS19.
It appears that at times folk get bumped off or downgraded.....as much as l would not like for this to happen, l would be quite happy to fly the next day, as our schedule is very flexible.
As far as the in flight service goes, well l am very relaxed about this also....and some of the latest reviews are quite disturbing....neither DH or myself are allergic to anything.
We are very happy to grab a meal in the CH...and again go with the flow in flight....good, bad or indeed indifferent!
Our main aim here is to be able to settle down and sleep for most of the flight, both out and back, which is why we have selected UC.
I think the point l am trying to make here is that the Virgin brand doesn't suit everyone, and to be honest l am becoming rather tired of reading so many negative posts, not on this forum, but on others.
As l said before....one pays the money and takes the choice.
Ok...rant over, thanks for listening to one soon to be a sixty year old codger!

I usually find that on trip advisor and other sites there are a lot more negative rewiews than good ones. If someone has a bad experience they are much more likely to post a negative review.
People who are satisfied/pleased with the service trip or hotel are less likely to post anything unless there is some incentive for them.

That is why I like the trip reports on here as they give an honest review of the whole service (and in some cases a back story for entertainment) giving a review that you can trust.

Nice attitude, Classlass. I think there has been a little VS kicking going on v( but we seem to forget the amount of great TR's on here praising the great CC & FSM's, the wonderful service and the whole atmosphere of the UCS. I, personally, do not get to fly UCS very often n( but when I do I make sure I have a great time!

Sit back, relax and enjoy :D

You have to take the reviews and TRs in the round and a lot of the criticism is really down to personal preference rather than any major problems. Just look at the critism the menu gets when people havn't even eaten it.

The TA 'complaint' really was a lot of nitpicks rather than any major problems which is why it got the reaction it did. Any major complaint that poster had was simply lost in the deluge. And to be honest if she had followed the advice people here had given she would have had a different experience.

Read some of the threads on FlyerTalk to see some really obscure issues that get people upset - even a change in the brand of cookies served on board one US carrier caused major ructions. Another was someone complaining they hadn't been upgraded on the 'rescue' leg home of a flight that was diverted to the Azores !

That's not to say VS is perfect. We all know they are not but the problem is one of consistency not that they are awful.

You have the right mind-set - go with the attitude of enjoying yourself and you will.

So you didn't get a manicure - have an extra glass of champage instead !

Have a fab trip in UC and to San Francisco - if you want some ideas of what to do there let me know.

As Petmadness said, your attitude will go a long way to having a good experience. The way to go is to go with the flow.

For starters, your seats are just fine. Being in the A side means that you have the better views on the way into SFO. Just check from time to time to make sure they are still there and do OLCI as soon as you can and they should be fine. I've never lost my pre-requested seats but I suppose there's a first time for everything.

I wouldn't read too much into the Tripadvisor post. If you read the V-Flyer posts to that poster you will see that she had issues even before she set off. You are much better off to look in the Trip Report index in the Toolbox on the menu bar and read the TRs for the VS19. For the most part they are positive and certainly my best flights have taken place on that particular flight. I'm already looking forward to my next flight on it in the summer even though I haven't even booked it yet. As my son said to me last year when I booked "I wasn't going to ask if you were going, but when were you going"

Your relaxed attitude and open mindedness is absolutely the way to be.
More glasses of bubbles = even more relaxing...crikey any more relaxed you'll be horizontal before your seat is converted into a bed!

I know that your UC expreience will be ab fab..just like mine will be in November, I can't wait ...bring it on...

Enjoy! Enjoy! Enjoy!

You're dead right with that attitude to the thing.

Every UC experience is good - it's just some are better than others!

Much of the comment, speaking personally, comes from a real fondness for a company that was once at the leading edge of inovation in the airline industry, and has perhaps lost some of that edge.

You will enjoy your UC experience, have no doubt!

I love the attitude that you have - you will have a great flight. You are on holiday so being relaxed is the best way to be.

It only seems to be grumpy people who board with scowls across their faces who ignore any "welcome onboards" that they get (no names mentioned) that continue to have bad flight after bad flight. :)

Thank you all very much for your replies, you really are a great bunch.
I really did get so fed up with folk carping on the negative about Virgin.
Over a period of time l have read most of the reviews on here and appreciate the honesty of them....good or not so!
Love the idea of more bubbly...my favourite tipple....and l will have already had most of my beautifying prior to departing.
I have honestly learned so much on this site, invaluable information that l would have been completely ignorant of if it were not for you guys.
I will keep checking on my booking, thank you for that also.
DH and l are going to have a ball and enjoy every minute of the whole experience......and just hoping that we don't meet any of those miserable buggars on the way!! Apologies for my language!
