There is a possible need to have to change our up coming MCO flights, and need to understand the liability for a K fare, at this stage without involving insurance:

1. Changing dates
2. Changing names
3. Cancellation

Bearing in mind these outgoing flights are the 2nd oct B) i.e. approx 7 days prior

Appreciate if anyone can anyone shed any light rather than trawling the VS site for the various clauses..

I don't know about 1 and 3 but with 2 airlines do not allow name changes (unless it is a minor correction but I imagine this is not what we are talking about)

Change fee on a K fare is £120 for date/route change.

Name changes are not allowed at all

Cancellation will be total loss of fare, but you will be able to claim back any taxes.

The most sensible option would be to change for a future date as you can always change again if need (for another fee of course), but providing you will be taking another flight to somewhere in the next 11 months, it's a better option than losing the fare completely.

Will await update on our situation, out if interest, how late in the day could you apply to change?

There are no restrictions on that, so even on the day of travel - you can even make changes after the outbound flight.

As I mentioned a while ago if you need to change dates but do not know when you need to change to then you may be better off no-showing and then paying the now show fee later when you book.
This means that you do not have to decide until later what dates you have.
However, if the fare has changed then you will need to pay the difference and if it is lower you will not get a refund. Also the no show fee is about another 120 on top of the change fee.

I know deliberately no-showing is wrong as it deprives others of that seat but it is not my system that allows it !
