I hope his conviction means he now has to apply for a visa to enter the UK in future. I'm sure he would love having to queue up at the Washington Embassy and plead his case.

It does indeed serve him right. Usually you have the option of walking away from unpleasant drunks but on an aircraft there is no such choice. I'm glad the CC handled it so well.

Stupid may be, but the punishment seems entirely in line, dare I say it even long, for the crime: no one was hurt, people were abused and inconvenienced and upset, no physical violence, and no damage to the aircraft was reported. Heck, you can rob a granny in this country and get community service ...
