LGW Arrivals - special VS treatment?

I was travelling back through LGW on Thursday from Europe and when I got to passport control they were moving people who had arrived from Las Vegas on VS into a special line whereas the rest of us had to join long queues.

Is this something that happens often for VS flights now or can anyone shed any light on the special treatment for that flight?

There has been reference in recent TRs of VS passengers being diverted into a different channel and bypassing the queues at LGW

This happened to me to on my flight back from MCO last tuesday. was all ready for the big queues but was told to go to the smart lane, there was only 5 people in front of me
