Hi, I'm a long-time lurker, and have found this site very useful, but not posted before as I have found the replies can sometimes get a bit nasty but...now I've offended everyone here's my question.

I recently received a personalised letter from Steve Ridgway's office, in relation to a complaint I had written in. (I'm not going into the details of this as its irrelevant to my question).

The letter addressed all the points raised and finished with the awarding of 10,000 miles as a goodwill gesture. Good stuff.

However logging into my FC account, no sign of the miles. But how can I chase them up as they were a goodwill gesture in the first place so I can't moan if they don't show.

Hope this makes sense.

Hello and welcome.

Glad your issues were sorted out to your satisfaction.

How long has it been between you getting the letter and checking your account? I'd give it a few more days as sometimes these miles can take a lttle time to process as it will be a manual process - unlike miles from a flight which are added automatically.

If they don't appear then SRs office won't mind being contacted - I assume it has their direct contact details listed on it?

Hi and welcome to V-Flyer.

I'm surprised that you find some of the replies a bit nasty as we mods frown very much on this and try to nip it in the bud. However we'll do our very best to be nice to you :D

With regard to your query, as tonty suggests, wait for a few days more and it the miles don't show then I would suggest you contact the Flying Club about it. It may be that you might have to send a copy of the letter to then at some future date, but generally I find that any miles awarded for anything other than flying or credit cards do post within a few days or so

Welcome to v- flyer.
I am surprised that you think that some of the replies posted here are a bit nasty ?| .
IMHO Newbies are made to feel very welcome here, even when the questions posed have been posted many a time before :) .
There have been a few new posters of late who have fanned the flames (some would even say trolled) and generally have received responses that are equally fitting.
If you really want to experinece "nasty" you're on the wrong board (that's FT) ;) .

Yes, some replies can be a bit sharp - but they're probably 1% of the whole, so not really that bad ... as for the miles, when I have infrequently written a letter of complaint the 'goodwill' miles have been posted before the letter arrived ... still I'd wait say five working days from your reply to get back in touch ... 10,000 miles is worth following up on.

Welcome y) .

Hello there, I definitely think you should chase them up. They were offered to you for a reason and as such should be yours.

Also, welcome and even though there are some times when folks are a bit snippy on certain things, this place is generally very friendly.

Indxeed we are a friendly bunch (and having met a number of v-flyers I (and my liver) can attest to friendliness) but I think you will admit that we can get a bit snippy if a poster asks for detailed advice, is given accurate, detailed advice, then ignores that advice, then says they had a bad trip because they ignored the advice that was freely given.

Thanks for all the replies.
To clarify, the letter reply is dated 19th so one week and still no miles onto my fc account.
With regards nasty comments, I just think that a certain post on here and tr provoked a lot of insensitive comments to someone who has obviously got a few issues with food. Speaking from family experience one particular comment, can't recall if here or tr, was particularly cruel and could have really hurt someone vulnerable with these problems.
So I just think that you should all just remember that, when replying to posts on forums, you don't the op so should tread lighter than you would face to face with friends etc.
Ok shoot me down with flames but that's my take.

As a fairly new poster on this site - let me firstly say that to an extent, I agree that the occasion there is the odd reply that someone sticks up that can be a little...direct sounding. Thats what happens on every forum. And I have found this one to be full of all sorts of different characters. Which is a good thing.

But seriously. That poster you are referring to had it coming. I mean no malice to anybody, however she came to this site, recieved some great advice from some extremely experienced people and then proceeded to ignore every single, solitary piece of it - taking absolutely ZERO accountability for her own deicions - resulting in perhaps THE most poorly constructed and blatantly ridiculous complaint letter I've seen.

In short, she deserved the community response she got (from this community and from the Trip Advisor community).

Sorry, thats just my two cents.

Frenchy, dont apologise for taking a viewpoint, own your feelings. I just know, from family history fo eating disorders, that this has probably caused more harm than good, whatever the rights and wrongs of the op's actions. Two wrongs etc...
Anyway, back on topic, still no miles showing!

left turn -- welcome

It's only been a week from the date of the letter, so maybe give it a few more days.

Actually I think you can! :) If the miles are offered (and accepted by you) to 'settle' a particular problem, then why shouldn't you chase them up?

Hi and welcome From another relative newbie!!

I'd give it 14-21 days and then chase them up if they are not showing on your account, Just because they are good will miles doesn't mean you cant chase them up!!
