I didn't mean to offend all smokers but who else other than the rule breaking smokers would leave their butts in the roof garden despite all the 'no smoking' signs ?

On my last visit there there was a smoker and I politly pointed out the signs and was told to mind my own business - despite all the no smoking signs on the stairs, the entrance door and the on the walls.

Well Folks, I can now report upon the new facility, having had the opportunity to visit last Friday evening - I am amzed that I am the first :0

The place opens officially at 4 and has one Bartender - the place is in essence a Franchised outlet which is run by Grey Goose (read Barcardi) and obviously stays open until the last flight is called.

The place has had a re-vamp with furnishings (and table :w ) replaced / refurbed and the main wall now being converted into a massive bookshelf with some very interesting photo montages.

The place was empty when we were there and we had a long chat with the Bartender as he mixed our drinks. For anyone able to visit, can I suggest you actually stand at the small Bar and watch the skilled preparation - it is a sight to behold y) I obviously had to go for the Gold Status, and yes, Gold Leaf is actually used :0 :0 :0 Mrs Buns went for the classic, which was made with Oxley Gin and received a massive Thumbs Up y) y) y)

To be honest, I am glad I have visited, albeit the place was empty (oh, and by the way this around 6, so we cannot be accused of beating the door down so to speak) as to have a quiet and relaxed time to chat to the mixologist was on par with the other personal services offered in the Clubhouse.

I understand that prior to the official opening time, that VS still use the area for Celebs (and CIPs) providing the service from the general bar and resturant as before.

Mrs Buns and I left after the one drink each - not because we did not wany more, but beacuse I don't think we would have got down the stairs if we stayed for more :| But we did get a nice little booklet on the drinks and I suspect the Mrs Buns will be demanding some in the weeks to come.

Will try and post some photos that Mrs Buns took

Nice to see they fixed the broken skylight / table. Last time the VS party bus crew was in there (and the last time I had reason to be up there), one of the staff mentioned the logistics of getting a replacement bit of glass would involve heavy lifting gear through the roof. Wonder if that was really the case...

Such a shame that it's been decided it's only going to be open post-4pm; I'm about to lose my Au status, so in all probability won't get to try the loft (LA flight on Saturday will see me in the CH for the last time for a while I should think)... :#
