I am flying Upper Class. Arriving at Heathrow T3 at 7.40am and departing from T3 at 9.40am. CPT-LHR-SFO all Virgin. I have used Flight Connections at Heathrow before and sometimes the security lines are very long. I have used the Upper Class Wing/ Security Channel numerous times before and it is very quick. I was thinking that instead of using Flight Connections I would simply clear immigration (British passport, so very quick) and then go to the Upper Class Wing/Security Channel since there are no queues there. Any thoughts? Is the walk very long from arrivals to the Upper Class Wing i.e.
is the UC wing very far from the Transfer /Flight Connections such that it would take an additional 10-20 minutes to walk this distance versus simply waiting in line at FC?

Given that you are arriving and departing from T3, I would say that it is quicker and easier to transfer from Flight Connections.

Going via Immigration and exiting is also possible but if the crowds are heavy at Border Control ( and at that hour of the morning they are likely to be) then you could find that you are waiting about 20 minutes to be processed unless you have a biometric passport and can use the e-gates.

At least with a T3-T3 transfer you aren't waiting for a bus to go to another terminal

Thanks. I posted my question to flyertalk also and got some answers there, as you correctly note.

VS customer relations responded also and said it is a 5-10 minute walk once cleared immigration to get to the UC Wing security channel. (And usually that line is empty).
