I have been trying to book my holiday (hotel and flight) for next October and use my Virgin airmiles to upgrade my seats. However when we contact Virgin holidays we are told that I have to book the holiday now and then eleven months before flying contact Virgin Atlantic to see if we can upgrade the seats. This seems to be a very long winded way of going about what should be an easy task. Can someone advise me on how we need to do this.many thanks
Straightforward 336 day rule I'm afraid, as in VS makes available the actual seats for booking at 336 days so there is no way for VH to check actual availability now. In fact, upgrade availability may not even be released at 336 days, it often follows later. Note of course you can book your VH holiday sooner ... as you are!
There's a plane at JFK, to fly you back from far away
all those dark and frantic transatlantic miles

My understanding is that flights on VS bought via VH cannot be upgraded using FC miles.
Huzzah for International Jet-setting !

Mine too, tonty, though VH do give the opportunity to upgrade for (large amounts of) cash ):
Thanks,
John.
John.
You are quite right Treelo and Tonybear, you cannot upgrade if you book a seat with VH. As I tried many times they are on the special ticket codes discounted for VH and you have to be on a reward ticket code to upgrade.
The only way to upgrade is pay an exhorbitant amount as i was often quoted. :0
