Read on Business Traveller this morning that virgin are to stop offering the little aircraft shaped salt and pepper pots in UC. I thought they were a nice touch. All due to a revamp of dining cutlery etc apparently. Link to article is here http://www.businesstraveller.com/news/n ... -on-virgin

They have announced the removal on their Facebook page :-(

"Pinch them while you can! With some exciting developments in our near future, we’re bidding a fond farewell to Wilbur & Orville, our “highly collectable” upper class salt & pepper set."

Virgins "Exciting developments" of the past include
removal of flowers
removal of red cushions
removal of food courses
remoavl of IFBT

So, what will be the next?

Like this - although $12.50 is a bit steep, they probably cost thruppence ha'penny to make ...

I have this awful feeling that the replacement 'product' will be along the lines of tear off sachets a la Burger King.

My personal protest will be to travel with my own, previously pinched, salt and pepper shakers.

I have some which were donated. We were very polite and asked. It was only when we got them home that we saw the "Pinched from Virgin Atlantic" sign on the bottom. We also have a set of the teardrop ones that preceded the planes. :)

I've just spoken on the telephone to Mrs NV and informed her that VA intend to discontinue the salt and pepper shakers. Her response was (laughing) 'They've probably run-out as we've got most of them!'

LOL! Obviously expenses there don't run to UC travel

At least they call it 'upper' and not 'first' class!

And I think that 'thousands' is a gross underestimate of the number pniched !

I will have to super-glue the "borrowed" Salt & Pepper pots to the top of my PC screens at work now to avoid any further "borrowing" given that they will now become less readily available!

But if they are going for $12.50 a set on eBay - I may have the basis for the start of a family heirloom collection here, as I have acquired more than a few sets...
