I had an email from BA today to say they are now adding a bronze tier to thier Executive Club membership.

To gain this you need 300 tier points and 2 eligible flights or 25 eligible flights.

Benefits are use of the Business Class check in, reserve your seat 7 days in advance and earn 25% tier bonus.

Well, I think the consensus is:

If you are Silver or Gold now, you think it's a bad idea
If you are blue it's a good idea

I like it. I'll not be able to make Silver all the time, but now I'll be able to select seats at T-7days, it would probably mean I won't pay for them in advance.

The Euro cheats and Europeans aren't happy either, about changes to the qualification levels, bringing them in line with the UK ones. Ah well.

Quite happy with this, I may make this tier on BA, and it's just a little recognition for (slightly less) frequent flyers - that are still more frequent than the occasional holiday.

And VS have just made my AG status harder to maintain.....

The AUs and frequent business flyers will perceive this as scambling over crums, but to me (a 4-6 flights per annum with my family type of guy), it's important and may make the difference in terms of where my custom goes.

However with VS Silver you get PE check-in (probably about the same as CW check in on BA), and 50% bonus miles. You're also able to reserve a seat whenever you want free of charge.

I still can't quite believe that BA get away with charging people up to £80 per person per leg for reserved CW seats.
