Received my notification too today :)

Also received my new Hilton HHonors Visa card today for exactly this reason :(! It gives me 2 points per £ that I can transfer to my FC account at 1:1.

Im not sure that is right, you have to transfer a minumum of 10k hh points to your ff account, and the conversion rate is 10k hh points = 1500 vs points which is pants and a terrible way to spend hh points imo. y)

cheers

Why wouldn't you want another card?

Already have Amex and a Mastercard - along with a debit card and also I hold a couple of cards for my mum (I'm her Deputy), it's enough to keep track of!

That said - I haven't had the letter mentioned here, so perhaps it's not being issued across the board???

Well given that I got both the 'advance warning' flyer and the 'letter' itself on the same day I imagine VS cocked up the distribution arrangements!

The letter does say that you can phone and tell them you don't want the visa card though - whihc is I suppose oen way of opting out other than taking it then never using it.

y wife has VS Amex card connected to her own VFC account but she hasn't received any letters whilst I have. Do current holders have to be using that a lot to qualify?

Generally I welcome the new VS Visa card so that VFC miles can be gained at outlets that doesn't accept Amex and though its 1 mile for £2 its better than nothing as at present.

So have any black card holdeers received the "stuff"?

We both have separate black card accounts and both received the advance warning letter and the real letter advising us of the new card on the same day last week.

It is a credit card fee, not specific to the AmEx, so you will still be charged.

Well, as I haven't had any mail about this, I guess I have to assume I wasn't selected to get the new card. Relief (I think), as I don't need another one. Though oooh, thought just occurred - has it gone astray in the post and fallen into the wrong hands? How would I even know though if that had happened....

If the mail about it has, then it is no big deal as it really didn't contain any personal information, it was just a general notification letter.

If when they send the cards out (which are November) and it got in to the wrong hands, to use it they would have to activate it and without the personal information you sent up then they wouldn't be able to do that - so again, no issue unless you share all your personal information.

Would have been far better if they hadn't messed about with the original mastercard which gave similar benefits to the vs amex black but was at least accepted most places. Amex can be a pain in the rear to use and they are not particularly helpful to deal with. Introducing a Visa partner card is helpful as it provides more places to shop and gain FC points - albeit at 50% of the amex deal...!

It is somewhat annoying that Virgin Atlantic charge a transaction fee for their own credit card(s). Surely, as both an inducement to buy their card and use their card in order buy their flights they could have negotiated a better deal for card holders... or maybe they have and are benefiting from a kick back from MBNA?

Didn't get a mail but just logged on and it's listing a VISA card in the top right...

American Express XXXX XXXXXX XXXXX
Visa XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX

It also now shows which card I have used to buy what. Obviously at the moment it's all AmEX.
Virgin Atlantic
