Hi, I'm flying into MIA on Friday with my son and have hired an alamo car through Virgin (checked in for car hire already). Does anyone know what you do about the sunpass only tolls around MIA?

Thanks - guess a trip to the Alamo desk is required to check options. I think the Virgin/alamo site should give customers info on this, especially before pushing the check-in option.

Hi,
We have just returned from two weeks in the sunshine state flying into MIA.We stay on the Gulf Coast side of Florida so for us it makes sense to get the prepaid Sunpass option currently charged at $19.99 USD per week which gives you unlimited passage through any Sunpass tolls in Florida. This worked well for us but it may not be worthwhile for you if you're only local to MIA.

Regards,

NOC :)

We flew into MIA in August and stayed on the gulf coast but didn't get the Sunpass and spent next to nothing on Tolls. We were advised to prebook tolls but decided not to and I worked out for us. Have a great time !

Hmm we stayed in Cape Coral which is reached via a bridge with a Toll so each time we came off the cape and back on we had to go through the tolls. And with a local toll of $6 USD to get onto Sanibel island it didn't take long to be in pocket with a Sunpass.
That said, it's all horses for courses as if you stay in an area with few tolls it's not woth it.
