VS - the odds on joining an alliance?

If VS were to join an airline alliance, which one would you think they would/should join?

Whats your views on this?

Thanks, I just had a look at the previous threads [8D].

I agree with you that the consensus is that they wont, because it does seem interesting the mix of FC partner carriers covers a good cross section of airlines from different alliances and with a good percentage being star alliance I would have thought this would be the direction they would head, should the day come.

But I think the 'strategic alliances' seem to work more in VS' favour for the time being.

You have to wonder why they would? I mean, VS can gain benefits by choosing specific partners to work with (as it has done with the likes of BD, HP, CO, SQ etc) without having to add the administration (i.e. financial) burden of dealing with an alliance. VS has such a unique product offering too ... I would hate to see it have to conform its classes of service etc to be part of such an alliance.

On balance, I would like to see the airline make better use of its existing airline relationships that waste its time being an alliance member.
