I'm about to book my honeymoon through Virgin Holidays and will fly Singapore Airlines in Economy.

I see from the SQ website that if I book direct with them then I can request a specific seat but cannot see if this is possible if I book through Virgin Holidays.

Given its our honeymoon we would rather bag ourselves one of the pairs of seats on the upper deck rather than have to be joined by A N Other in a three/four. Given we are flying around the time of the Malaysian GP, I'm guessing it may be fairly busy and would rather not leave it until checkin (online or otherwise).

Usual caveats regarding seat request changes acknowledged.

Any thoughs would be great.

Not sure about VH but I have flown SQ a number of times through Trailfinders and they have been able to request a specific seat for me, so hopefully VH will be able to do the same. I don't think you can access/manage it on the SQ website but it was on their system when I checked in. The SQ customer service is very good and may be able to help too once they have confirmation of your booking via VH. Congratulations on your wedding and have a great honeymoon y)

i'd be interested if you are able to book specific seats after booking with VH,

i've just also booked with VH and will be flying SQ, and the agent told me once the booking has been ticketed and i have the PNR i can ring SQ and preselect seats and also pay for the preferred ones if still available (SQ website shows they are). Although SQ website says seats are only pre-selectable if booked via the website ?

Just waiting for the hotel to come back as confirmed and tickets to then be issued !

Well question now answered !

Booked the holiday with VH, rang SQ reservations to prebook preferred seats and was told i can't !

The seats can only be pre-booked once the booking has been ticketed, VH won't be ticketing the reservation until the 14th March 2012. Or once i pay the full holiday cost then they will issue tickets.

Apparently different holiday companies have different contracts with SQ and VH's allows them to make an initial reservation and ticket at the last minute.

I can log into my booking via SQ website but all it shows is a reservation, i can't even do advanced passenger until the reservation changes to being ticketed.
