Yesterday I did some dummy bookings LGW - MCO for March next year, the UC against CW was over £500 per person more and PE Vs WT+ a more modest £60 or so.

Worth a serious thought in my view

BA don't fly Man-Mco? So assuming you are factoring in an internal flight as well, which adds to duration etc...
However the fact BA can win hands down AND fly you to London says a lot!!

It says a lot, but a lot about VS or a lot about BA? Are BA so much cheaper because they have plenty of empty CW seats unsold and need to lower the price to get bums on seats, whereas VS is pretty full in UC and therefore has no real need to sell cheaply?

Just comparing two prices unfortunately doesn't give us the full story.

Well my experience Man-MCO was that VS was £600 each more than CW but we still chose that because of the convenience and the 747 nose experience.

When I booked I was told that there would rarely be any sale prices on that flight because of its popularilty and only a few seats but on board there were only 3 passengers in UC.

Seems a strange way of making a profit? :?

It's very interesting to see the comparisons in pricing, certainly on the MCO route.

I'm giving it some serious thought for my flights next September, but waiting to see what VS do in the new year!

Me too. Just booked BA to MCO in CW for May at £635 per person less than UC (VA from Gatwick). Also BA are including the regional flights from Glasgow and Manchester to Gatwick in that price.

I know that CW is directly comparable with UC or at least it was until Virgin cut some of the UC service offerings but what is perhaps more interesting is that CW is only £600 more than VA PE. The PE product to MCO is terrible with a lesser service offering than a good charter flight in my two most recent experiences. Yet in CW we will be allowed more than two drinks during the entire flight, the food on the menu will really be available, priority baggage will really exist, molton brown toiletries, flat bed, we will be able to use the BA lounge, domestic flights included with bags checked all the way through etc etc. All that for only £600 more!
