I recently encouraged my wife to apply for Amex platinum card (£300 fee seemed good value particularly as 40,000 bonus MR points were on offer). I got added as a supplementary card holder thinking I could transfer these points to my FC account.

I had read a number of forums which suggested this was possible as long as I was supplementary cardholder but can't seem to do on the Amex website as her name doesn't match my FC account number.

Anyone tried this before? Would ringing Amex help or would that draw attention to what I'm trying to do? Would cost alot to transfer them from her Virgin FC account to mine so am keen to try avoid this if possible.

If you have a MR account with Amex, with another card, you can transfer points from your wifes account to yours for £15. You have to call Amex for this.

Thanks but tried this.
AMEX told me categorically that:
1. MR rewwards can only be transferred to the FF account of the main card holder - name must be the same.
2. MR can't be transferred from one MR account to another.

Where did you hear about the £15 fee? Think rules for US Amex holders may be different.

From that other flying related site that people use when flying the Dark Side. It's been mentioned before, and the £15 suggests its for UK customers. Try another MR agent.

Thanks Locutus
Sent email to Amex and had reply confirming what you had said. :D
Can't transfer MR points from wife's account to my VS FF account but can transfer to my MR account.

Don't have MR account anymore as I closed account when she took out Platinum card. Will have to open Gold account again - annual fee less than £100 at moment so worth it for the 40,000 points.

Wonder if I can claim the 20,000 bonus again? ii)

Cheers
