The flight was light in Y and we were seen quickly at check in, boarded and left on time (7:40 ish). I for one, after having received at least five notices about it, was looking forward to seeing the "new" Y menu and presentation, so hadn't eaten any dinner. Or had a drink. Or a glass of water. Mistake: mine.

Although cabin crew were attentive in seeing everyone was belted in, items stowed and shiny new meal cards and headsets shared, they were called to PE and UC to attend to those pax. I do not recall hearing that there were dedicated Y crew or even dedicated Y/PE staff.

The film and tv choices were limited but I opted for sleep after dinner. I waited.

By 9:30 p.m. and nearly three hours on board, after watching the drinks and meals carts roll down the aisle to PE or UC a good long time earlier, we were served our dinner. The "new" Y does say that on shorter flights the meals will all come together and not in layers (drinks, meal, pudding). I opted for the Indian chicken dish which was a wedge of chickpeas and some good chicken bits in bad sauce— a far cry from the yummy Indian dish I had in Y last March. I dug out the chicken bits, avoided the definitely "minute' rice and looked for the cheese. There was no cheese. I asked for a second wine but never saw it.

Glass wine mini glasses are gone and wine (also not memorable) came in plastic cups, tea and coffee in paper. I may have slept through ice creams but breakfast came soon—cold croissant and the best food of the trip—a small fruit yoghurt. Plates ARE smaller and so are portions but given the food quality, who cared?

Cabin crew were as attentive as they had time to be, given all they had on their plates—the new hype about Y food totally a yawn.

Good flight, quick journey, skip the food.

Thanks for the TR y) I have to agree with your comments on the new Y food. Had several meals in Y this year that were actually very decent :D ...as soon as they release the new menu we fly in Y to HKG and the food was, actually, not very nice! :$ I understand that you get nice new menu's handed out to make you feel special but does that mean that the food deteriorates v(

Thanks for the "Front Line" report on the food y)

It does seem that the VS hype on "major investment" "changes" (dare I even suggest the word "improvement") is not borne out in reality v( v( Oh dear

Indeed Mr B

One again VS hype does not live up to the actuality (an no am not blaming the crew for this)

VS had admitted on here that the 'full' new menu experience is really available on only a few flights (i.e. west coast USA) when most of their flights are the short ones from the US East Coast an Caribean.

No wonder people are complaining.
