Help me out here, I'm confused:')

Logged on to BAEC, and my EC points have been "rebranded" Avios - at a rate of 1 for 1.

Logged on to Airmiles (Avios), and my Airmiles have been converted at 10 for 1.

Is this right?

The obvious conclusion is that Airmiles were like gold dust!!!

Or, have I got the wrong end of the stick (as usual...:D)

Yes, that is correct - Airmiles were always a different "currency" to BAMiles

Tax isn't inc anymore after the Avios change.

Ah, thanks - that's helped me out in my confusion!

Mind you, having combined by Avios into my BAEC account, the balance is looking very good!
