Seasons greetings all. Here's some news about the new Virgin Atlantic New York JFK Clubhouse.

Our Clubhouse at JFK has always been one of our Upper Class and Flying Club Gold passenger’s favourites. It’s hard to miss. A shining beacon across the terminal, located just after our check in facilities, it’s unique design, comfortable spaces, and friendly New York hospitality are a fantastic way to relax before your journey to London.

If you’re flying from JFK Terminal 4, you’ll notice there’s a few changes going on. These have given us the opportunity to improve our passenger experience and create a sexy new Clubhouse in a brand new area. It’s going to be a very special place. Somewhere that’s uniquely Virgin Atlantic, but still unmistakeably New York.

When it opens for business in spring 2012, passengers will find our new Clubhouse much more conveniently located airside. With 10,000 square feet to fill, our design team have had a great time creating unique, innovative environments that cater to all our passengers needs.

A delicious fusion of private members club, boutique hotel lobby and chic bar, our new JFK Clubhouse will become yet another reason to choose to fly Virgin Atlantic. We offer three daily flights to and from New York JFK International Airport from London Heathrow, plus additional twice-daily flights to Newark Liberty International Airport.

Keep an eye out for more details as we preview some of the fantastic features to look forward to in our new Clubhouse when it opens spring 2012.

Good news that it is airside now, as this means no more boarding calls an hour before the flight to battle security.

What happened to the talk of a private security channel at JFK?

Oh dear, we're mostly frequent fliers here, can we save the crapola marketing language and just tell it like it is?

The existing clubhouse a shining beacon, are you kidding?

That said, it's good to have the date confirmed what we've known about for a long time.

I bumped into the design team in the JFK clubhouse on Tuesday evening. They told they were all geared up for the new lounge and it's going to be one of the best, and there will be a salon in it.

The current one will be used as security. all the existin shops will be shut and the lower floor will not be in use from next march.

I'm very much looking forward to it

Does that mean that security is relocating to where the current lounge is and the floor below? If so that's even better news than a new Clubhouse (and the cynic in me guesses we wouldn't have a new clubhouse in that case)?

I don't want sexy :(! .Please stop the marketing dept's psyco - babble hype- the reality rarely fails to disappoint (think the new Y service nonsense). Just give me wi-fi that works......
I am glad however that the new CH will be airside.

PS. Yes, I have had a lousy day :).

Now now, you grumpy lot... Personally 'shining beacon' did nothing but make me smile. But then I make a living out of spouting management psychobabble, so who am I to criticise.

Anyway, I've always liked the JFK clubhouse, and the staff have been unfailingly nice every time I've visited. So anything that means that I can spend more time there (I.e. Being airside) gets my vote.

Yes I was told of the airside move a month back, whilst enjoying the current one. REALLY happy its moving airside. Yes great staff, great food, and lovely place to relax before a flight. A private security channel would cement it, but we can't have it all.(or can we?!)

I always found the Oasis lounge in T4 a good alternative for when you aren't in UC and have a Priority Pass.

Lots of food (hot and cold) and plenty of beer, wines spirits in a really nice environment. Definitely up there as one of the good ones on the PP network. Worst ones either go to Liverpool/Luton Servisair and Miami Club America.

Would be interesting to see where the good selection of shops go to if they are closing down the lower floor.

Now I see that this is all tied up with the extension to T4 to accommodate all of Delta's international flying. It seems Delta is paying to add about ten or twelve gates to the B pier beyond where VS usually boards, so lots of work needs to be done to improve security, as well as immigration, and more.

So I guess this is forced on VS - I wonder if compensation for the forced move is helping out?

I really welcome this news and thanks to the Virgin Brand design team for using v-flyer to keep us updated. Having used the Clubhouse at JFK a few times I welcome the fact the new lounge will be airside - no longer having to dash down to make it through security in time.

The Clubhouse at JFK is one of my favourites and the service is always superb and the staff super friendly. Well done VS and a huge "thumbs up" from me...... y)

The biggest problem for me with the JFK CH (aside from the afore mentioned being landside and the wifi) is the noise that comes up from the main area below and the constant rattle of the luggage roller system across the hallway. Drives me nuts.

Anyway, I'm in the JFK CH right now, so 'waving from here'

And for once the wifi appears to be working....

....

Could not agree more about those blessed rollers, so the move airside cannot come a moment too soon for me :(!

Thanks for giving V Flyers the heads up on this

Personally, I love the current JFK clubhouse.
Staff are exceptional and the area itself is well decorated and invited. Can get a bit busy sometimes so could do with a little more space.

Being landside is the biggest issue. tHe way to solve that is a dedicated fast track channel for UC passengers.

Also the same must happen on arrival at JFK which can be miserable. 1.5 hour wait last time. Why dont they have a fastrack channel there for business customers.
