Ah sod it, I'll think ridiculously far outside the box! :o) It'll be either:

1) VS joining Star
2) VS acquiring BMI - an interesting curve-ball!
3) VS joining Skyteam
4) VS unveiling their new UCS
5) VS being innovative again, and being the first airline to operate non-stop flights to SYD from LHR, MAN, LGW & GLA to compete with Emirates.
6) VS unveiling livery #126
7) VS unveiling their new 747 leisure cabins
8) Etihad acquiring the SQ-held 49% stake in VS
9) VS taking over current TCX long-haul flying

Dunno which of the above has the higher chance of occurring tbh, but heyho! Now, if the secret location is Glasgow, it would be superb if they are to open a GLA base, but I highly doubt it. :( ii)

Based on comments from the crew on my flight out here to NRT I'm hedging a bet on the announcement of a new UCS (maybe being announced with the launch of a new financial product too).

The Glasgow base would be excellent, a nice A333 based here would be nice. 4 days to Orlando, 2 to Barbados. Make it happen VS :D

I saw an very short advert on ITV during Jonathan Ross, to tune into ITV1 around 8pm (can't remember the day) and it had the Virgin logo on it and it matched the theme of the new Virgin Money branding. So i think its probably something to do with this mystery event! ?|

The event starts about 5pm (attendees have been asked to arrive at 4.50pm), so I'm going to head into central London in about an hour.

And it definitely looks like it's a Virgin Money event, as Virgin Group have confirmed Branson is out with them today.

Wonder if there's actually anything new, or the first time they could get hold of Dicky since the announcement of the Northern Rock sale for a PR stunt?

Hmmm...

They are launching current accounts where you can pay a fee, or not pay a fee.

Will be interesting what they do, but not sure I'll jump ship just yet.

Ok, so an odd event. No announcements. Not really a launch, but rather a screening of an extended version of the 40 year ad projected onto three sides of a courtyard at UCL. Definitely very impressive, although strikes me as a wasted opportunity to announce something. If you're in central London tonight, then you can see the show for yourself just by going to Store Street off Tottenham Court Road. Two more shows, one at 6.15 and finally at 7.15.

Thanks so much Pete for tweeting and updating - seems like it wasn't a classic SRB publicity event!

So apart from some nice soup a total waste of time?
