I flew to NRT on NYE last week - the captain announced it was NYD in Japan a couple of hours after take off (we already had glasses in hand as it was at the start of the meal service) and then announced British NYD about an hour before landing. We had asked our fabulous crew if there would be any "celebrations" and advised not (and as there were only 11 of us in UC we could have had a heck of a party ): ): ). A glass of bubbly was brought to the three of us for the second announcement though, which had been "saved" especially by one of our superstar FAs :D .

Was on-board VS30 at UK 12 midnight this year.

Captain tried to play Big Ben via BBC world service through the PA, but reception etc was so bad, it just sounded like a cat but slowly squashed to death.

The crew on the flight didn't get any more animated at that time than the weren't already...in fact, they were no-where to be seen at that point...

All down to the individual crew member's personalities, I guess...

I was on the Vs76 and the crew were superb. The celebration took place at midnight UK time so it was only 50 minutes into the flight so 19.00 Orlando time as the plane left at 18.10. They made sure everyone had a drink to see in the new year then the celebration lasted 15 min at most. Was great to be part of it and after it was done the plane settled down. All credit to the crew they never stopped all night service was first class and a great flight.
