Hi new member ..... needing to find answer to a question ! I have flown the original G-VIRG many years ago and have recently done New York & Washington both in Upper & Premium , but my question is does anyone know if virgin has ever operated a RR powered 747 of any series ..... are all 747-400 aircraft CF 6 powered ..... I think so ?

Thanks for that .... interesting ... I guess these airframes are now not on the current fleet ? Do you know when they were on steam and were they 200 series and not 400 series ... ? My girl friend is a upper class cabin crew & she recons that when she flys the 747 they are all RR powered ... I know they are GE CF-6 powered but she won't have it .....I have many years of aviation background ... so I was a little confused as I have never seen a Virgin RB-211 747 .... ! thanks for you help have seen you in the posts quite often ..... I think she is getting a little confused over the A-340-600 that is Trent 500 powered ......

G-VRUM
G-VCAT

TF-ABA which was operated by Air Atlanta was also RR powered.

I thought all the 742's that joined VS around 99/2000 were RR powered?

They could well be - a lot of the engine information on the Airfleets page is missing. :)

Here's the last photo of TF-ABA in Sharjah:
