CO/VS codeshares

I just had an email from CO advising that whilst you cannot make VS bookigs with them after 13th Feb you can book for travel up to 12th Feb 2013.

Partnership with Virgin Atlantic is ending.

The OnePass and Virgin Atlantic partnership is ending. You can earn miles when you travel on Virgin Atlantic through 13 Feb 2012. Reward reservations for travel on Virgin Atlantic must be confirmed and ticketed by 13 Feb 2012, and are valid one year from the date ticketed.

No.

However you used to be able to get reward seats on VS by booking via CO and using your CO miles though but as the VS-CO partnership has now ended that is no longer possible.

You can use your CO points on many other fine airlines - last year I moved UA miles to CO to get a reward F flight on LH (and no fuel surcharge only UK and German APD to pay on cash)

Does that also mean the codeshare has stopped too? Or just being able to get points?

I have a CO flight from Vegas to Newark on Wednesday and the CO booking engine let me enter my VS FC number ... but I'm unsure whether to leave my FC number in or perhaps replace it with my BMI number in case I don't get miles and TPs ... today is when the codeshare ends, but I don't know if miles earning ends as well does anyone?

FC says

If you are due to travel on Continental operated flight on or before the 12th of February 2012, your miles will automatically credit to your Flying Club.

Any travel on a Continental flight on or after the 13th February 2012, will not be eligible to earn Flying Club miles. If you are due to travel on Continental operated flight on or before the 12th of February 2012, your miles will automatically credit to your Flying Club Account.

Yes the coad share has ended too

I booked through continental for my Orlando trip in October and recently received an email from continental telling me of a change to my flight, the only difference is that the CO flight number has gone and leaves just the VS number, whereas previously it had both, also when I log on to manage my booking with VS (as I have the reference) it now let's me choose my seats when previously I had to ring to try and pre-book the seats, online check in option is now available too instead of it telling me too check in with continental!,

Seems like the booking has been totally transferred to VS now which suits me nicely, as I only booked through continental because of them offering the Z fare at nealy 185 cheaper per person

It was a decision of the new UA/CO to terminate the agreement. I guess finances came into it but I think airlines restrict rewards so there is a knock for knock to prevent any inbalance and to even up finances.
