Tried checking in for VS015 tomorrow, got usual message cannot checkin, go to jail....ooops airport :D
Called VS and they said it was because our tickets did not match our booking as we had upgraded to PE using Amex vouchers and miles. Was left on hold for 20 mins then told to wait for a new eticket email and then try again.
No email so rang them back.
Hang on, my credit card hadn't gone through when I paid the extra taxes.. that was 2 weeks ago, could they not have let me know sooner ??? :0
Another 10 mins on hold then told to wait for email eticket and try again. Email has now come through but it still won't let me checkin online. Am really hoping we don't lose our seats in the bubble ?|
Nothing is ever straightforward :P
Consoled by the thought of a lovely holiday though and warmer weather y)

Had exactly the same issue, called up to be told "Dont know why you cant check in you will have to do it at the airport" got the the airport to be told, you need to go to the reservations desk as you have unpaid taxes. Sigh... all this took 45 minutes of my time at the airport to sort. It may be a small thing... but there are lots of small things with Virgin at the moment. If I book a flight, you take my credit card details to make payment, then dont tell me that you need to do it again over a month later cos you didnt do it properly first time.

Another post... another rant... sorry B)

Time now is 19:56, and VS really did relight my VS fire - they upgraded me and gave me CH access as well! How lucky I was that the flight was oversold in PE by 10, and also that the check-in agent took pity on the OLCI fiasco and arranged with her supervisor that I get CH access! Lovely lovely :)

Lucky is definately the word, unfortunately, it has little to do with the problems you faced - it only solves their problem of too many pax and not enough seats and not you your online problems that are and will be still ignored.

If they had done the upgrade because of all the problems, then yes that would be great... but they didn't. But enjoy the upgrade... but dont be lead into thinking it was because of you the customer... they could have just as easily oversold PE and have full UC and had to downgrade you... I have seen that on two flights I have been on.

Back to the OP, and this sort of this has cropped up before, but...

Does no-one check their credit card statements these days to make sure payments have gone through?

Not a dig at you, but a general observation.
