Hi all,

Bit of advice if you dont mind. Havent flown across the Atlantic for a few years, so lost touch with prices/when to book etc.

We need to go to Orlando over Easter next year for a wedding. Realise its peak time!

Managed to get a fly drive quote of around £1540 which includes two adults, one infant and an insured car for two weeks (which I guess accounts for approx £250 of the quote). Obviosuly this is travelling economy and leaves MAN on 27th March 2013 for two weeks.

With your experience, is this a good price? Should we go for it or wait and see if any deals crop up or is that unlikely given the peak travel times?

Thanks for any help.

In all honesty that sounds about right. I assume by infant you mean under 2 so no seat for them?

The slightly good thing about Easter 2013 is that it is split, with different parts of the country being off at different times.

We are also heading out with family, and I know local Easter dates start on the 22nd March for 2 weeks, where as many schools don't start until the 29th.

It also will help that you are wanting to fly midweek when most of the school holiday families will want to fly Sat to Sat to maximise two full weeks without having to take their kids out of school.

We went at Easter this year, and we flew slightly off peak and paid just over £700 for Y outbound and PE inbound, that was booked direct with VS.

I have personally always found that I have been able to book flights and car hire cheaper separately compared to a fly drive, but I may just have been lucky. Of course, it also means you have to wait until the 11 month from your return date is available before you can book direct, in which time your fly drive price could have gone up.

Sorry that my answer is a bit rambling, but there really isn't a right or wrong answer (or price), I guess if you are happy with the price you have been quoted and want to security of knowing your required dates are secured then go for it. If you are prepared to wait and maybe save yourself some cash, then the option is there also.

Thanks. Thats helpful.

Yes - the little one will be under 2, so no seat.

I realise about the option to wait until 11 months, but we have to fit in to a large group that are travelling, so its going to make it much easier to be able to book earlier.

I just wanted to make sure the price wasnt way off the mark and find we could make a massive saving by waiting.

250 for a car is fair. that leaves £1300 for 2.15 people or approx £600 per whole person. that seems afair price for easter....hey you may even get to sit upstairs :-)
