DL SkyMiles redemption

Just tried to redeem my DL miles for a flight online and got the following error:
"To redeem an Award Ticket online, the address in your SkyMiles account needs to be within the United States, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands. Please update your address online via My Profile" [:0]

Now I see nothing in the SkyMiles program rules that states this! I've fired off an email to DL to see whether I'm able to book flights at all (and will update here), but just wanted to put the word out...

Pls keep us posted. There are likely many of us who have miles sitting in DL accounts waiting to redeem an award ticket; so, keeping fingers crossed for all of us.

To be honest, I don't think I'm going to bother after all. I'd actually need to purchase 1k miles, and the website doesn't accept credit cards not issued in the US [n]

Besides, taking into account taxes & charges, the flight I had in mind (SLC-SMF) isn't really worth the hassle of having to deal with DL's "fabulous" customer "service" either. Think I might end up trying to use 10k for an upgrade and donate the rest.

Worry not, unless you're completely phobic of telephones. I had no problem with calling them (0800 414 767) and booking a flight using DL miles, when I got to just over 50k of the blighters. Availability of UK-US flights was pretty scarce; I was hoping for something to Boston, but eventually Delta booked me a return on VS from LHR to JFK. A good result, all told.
