Hi,

I'm flying VA for the first time in 11 years on the 31st March to Orlando from Manchester on VS073.

From your fantastic site I have discovered I would potentially be flying a plane with the odyssey system or nova system.

Could anybody tell me what these are like as they seem a little dated and seem like they are the same as when I last flew 11 years ago. The reason I ask is I'm travelling with my 3 children (aged 4, 7 & 9) and was wondering whether I need to ensure iPods are fully charged with movies etc.

Many thanks in advance.

Neil

Yes odyssey and nova are the very old systems so yes ensure your iPods are fully charged.

Thanks, I'm on the later flight with the 747 :-( didn't realise the difference when I booked. According to a travel agent it us the busiest day of the year for flights to Orlando, because of the Easter holidays and the "cooler" temperatures, so I had to grab the flights when I could.

We're travelling on the 73 on 28th, many people say about ife being old, but, as we haven`t flown with any sort of entertainment before it will be "new" to us. Just to add though, does it do what it says on the box - just enough to take the boredom of the flight away. That`s all we need really. Or is it so severely outdated that it`s awful and isn`t worth the headrest it`s set on. So to speak.

This.

Think of it as an old ropey VHS player and the remote control for it has no start, stop, fast forward or rewind buttons.

My advice would be to plan what you want to watch as soon as you board the plane because if you miss the start of a film, you have to wait for it to play all the way through before you can watch it again.

For me it is this.
Yes you have to watch the films when they show them, but it really isn't a hardship and each film will get at least two full run throughs during the flight, so if you miss it once you can catch it later.

Of course it isn't as good as the new IFE, but it is adequate and if you have reading, iPod, iPad etc then the time should 'fly by' (pun intended :D ).

As I have said previously, I go back to the days when everyone had to watch the big screen at the front of the cabin and audio can through plastic tubes :|

I already have my choice for outbound and inbound this month and will add my I Pad with a nice CHiPs episode (which of course will only be brought out after the meal service

Treelo

LOL :D :D :D Wish you could get chip butties on board

I am just very sad for still liking and watching a TV series back from the early 80's :| (the Disco music of the time was the draw)
