Yes they are, and there's a swanky new DL lounge being built above the departure gates - I looked at the T4 redevelopment plans and couldn't identify where the new VS clubhouse would be, but the plans I saw were focussed on Delta.

That's pretty normal at T4, they do like to move planes around.

Back to the A vs B gates ... now VX has recently moved to the A gates, perhaps so is VS?

Yes DL are moving flights to T4 (and paying $1bn plus for it too). What I meant was that if they were doing construction for those new gates (whoever will occupy them) that might limit access to the other B gates for safety reasons hence a temporary relocation of the VS flights at the weekend.

I'm not crowing. OK I am. But here's an extract of something very nicely received from Virgin today:

We're excited. Our brand new Clubhouse is about to land in JFK and we want you to celebrate with us at a VIP party on March 5th. You're cordially invited to join Sir Richard Branson and a select number of other special guests for a sneak peek of what's sure to redefine the pre-flight experience

Expect a full report on Tuesday, but I hear on the QT the clubhouse is open several days before and at least one V-Flyer on the 10 on Saturday, they should be lucky!

Good for you Slinky - I entered a competition to attend that event - sadly without success.

Look forward to your first-hand report...

I flew last night from JFK and the Clubhouse was open. It is GREAT and it is AIR SIDE....YES!!! ^) ^) :D :D ^) ^)

The place is ready so it was a dry run with opening 24hrs early....

Observations - the staff were a bit unsure (I had orders delivered twice and also to wrong people, I also received other peoples orders) minor points that will be smoothed out in no time and lots of senior/launch staff/project managers were on site to discuss teething issues - Ben/Hannah/Claire (if you go through in the next few days you are sure to meet them) were helping people understand the layout and field any comments/snags.

Cool seats in the quiet zone, very comfy.

Announcements were very quiet (again it will get fixed).

The actual square meterage is quite small (still bigger than the old site) and inventive use of design makes it appear larger than it actually is.

Menu is very small (the starter beef with Yorkshire pud is fab!)

Situated right above departure gate it is just so easy....just a shame we had to sit on the tarmac for 40 mins once we boarded due to wind.

and it's AIR SIDE - did i say that already?

It's open. I was there last night and it was a complete surprise to be invited in for its "soft opening"

I loved the old JFK lounge and its staff. But the new one does not dissapoint either.

Couple of changes make it even better. For a start they have a hair and spa area similar to the LHR Clubhouse but smaller. Cowshed is also gone :-(

The brasserie menu has also been smartened up. You've got to try the special desert tray.

Like the LHR CH, there are different defined areas with different style seating and ambience. I moved around a bit and it was great.

Service as always is excellent and very friendly and welcoming.

Its right above the gate. So it takes just seconds to get to the aircraft.

Badpoints. They need a swanky staircase and lift to make a grand entrance (shared staircase with Emirates and Air India I think)

So it IS on the A gate side. That's one detail I was waiting for confirmation of.

Now VS and VX are back together and I assume they're back to selling access to VX passengers.

Some pics posted here

(link from a posting on the VS FB page so hope it's ok to post the link)

Looks a tad dark to me and I hope there are some 'normal' seats and chairs to sit on !

Thanks for that, does look good, very dark in comparison to the old one though! Can't see anywhere that looks particularly cosy though?

It does look swanky :D

Whilst I have loved the "old" Clubhouse at JFK, a rest-bite from the noise of the rollers at Check In (not to mention the birds flying around) will be greatly welcomed by Mrs Buns and myself.

Guys

As per my earlier post.

IT IS RIGHT ABOVE the gates. It has shared access staircase but is straight in front of you at the top.

Re comments on the lighting - I did not notice it as dark at all, I understand of an evening they dim the lights to make it more intimate but I recall it was lovely and light and new and comfy....just typical Virgin really - good taste.

The pool table seemed small - I did not play on it but my impression was it was not full size.

Don't forget - IT'S AIR SIDE!
