Ok, stemless wineglass, it's a new one on me lol. I'm looking at these pictures thinking "wine in a tumbler!" :| I'll not get asked back - riff raff lol :D

Singapore Airlines also serve wine in a tumbler - or more accurately, a stemless wine glass. A lot of airlines have wine glasses which are stemless.

As do Air New Zealand

slinky and Martin -- thanks for the photos etc, very interesting. Is the food actually any better than it was?

I guess I am a bit nonplussed by the changes, and still a bit sceptical about the gloss. If the new service encourages good interaction between crew and passenger, then it's doing something that should have long been the case anyway. I don't really care what shape my salt and pepper pots are, nor whether my cheese comes on a plate or on a trolley. I do, however, care whether or not it is reasonably decent food (by good J-class standards).

Personally I think it's a pity the freedom menu has gone. In amongst all of the spin, that seems to be perhaps the most fundamental change to the basic service offering.

We are taking our first UC flights next month (VS007 & VS24) and I'm just wondering how many dinner services we will get. I see by the PDF posted earlier that breakfast is not offered on any flight.

I can understand that on the way out (I presume we will get lunch, then afternoon tea) but inbound I was expecting a breakfast service as I'm imagining most people will sleep on this flight as it leaves LAX early evening.

Apologies... must have misread the table - I see breakfast IS served inbound.

On the outbound you will get Lunch and afternoon tea plus the graze snacks. On your inbound you will get dinner and the full breakfast menu.

Not at all. v(

They were all acquired legitimately courtesy of Aer John who on various flights asked ever so politely if he could have one and always succeeded. The American airlines cabin crew in particular, oohed and aaahed over his "cute Irish accent" and big blue eyes and handed over the goodies willingly. The same accent and big blue eyes blagged our way into Continental's President Club in SFO when we were flying Delta :o) , the Delta Crown Room in HNL and a non-flying guest into the CH in SFO :w

Thanks for posting some pics and the Spring menu Slinky. y)

It's nice to be able to see what the offering will be on my flight in May. Though, being a veggie, not greatly impressed with the veggie option, the cheese of which I think is of the Blue variety and walnuts, isn't something I'd eat. :$ So if I choose to partake in the meal, I'll just have to skip the main course. Not a total disaster though.

Does anyone have the Return UC Menu? I'm heading back from MIA-LHR tomorrow so if no one has it, I'll take a photo and post it for y'all.

Though I'm not massively looking forward to the Club America lounge in MIA airport. :$

Just arrive at the airport as late as you can leave it :P
Unless you are a secret fan of rubbish coffee, strange nibble mixes and dry sandwiches... I always find the soup the safest bet, if it sounds edible. :o)
Although it is one of the most boring places in the world, it’s better than being out with the rest, the whole of MIA airport leaves something to be desired.

I quite agree with comments on MIA Club America Lounger. Had the pleasure (?) of spending a couple of hours in there on Monday before VS006. Very uninspring! However, as you say, better than sitting it out in the large departure lounge.

I did not bring the menu home with me from the return flight, but I must say it was not as nice as the outward flight. Starters were leek soup or a salmon rillette, neither of which I had as I wasn't hungry, and mains were braised short rib of beef, stuffed chicken breast or pasta! I had the beef and it was most unpleasant - fatty and tough. My OH had the chicken which was tasty but had the skin left on it so again was a bit fatty. Puds were cheesecake or apple, marmalade and whisky bread pudding.

The amuse bouche was not going down well on this flight - CC remarked that it isn't very popular, so no doubt this will be phased out before long!

I liked the Amuse Bouche on the way out but I quite like mozzarella & sun-dried tomatoes. I'll grab a pic of the main menu on way home.

Made it to the Club America lounge and its depressing lack of windows waiting area. In other news, my ol' favourite girl is flying me home for a possible record 4th consecutive VS flight. G-VWOW Cosmic Girl is the name. Think she might be stalking me...

Well I know I'm somewhat Necroposting, but I really thought the new service was far better when I flew VS for the first time for two years last weekend.

Even those champagne glasses that I wouldn't personally give houseroom to were not as bad as I thought.

The stemless glasses are definitely a thumbs up. No point in having a thimble at the end of a needle. I would still prefer a larger glass.

Amuse Bouche was a pleasant surprise, as was the new table linen setup. I am thinking that it's as much a psychological thing as anything else for both crew and pax: that additional effort then pervades the entire offering.

Vport is now feeling very old fashioned... Amazing, even 5 years ago it was the bees' knees.

Cheers, Howard
