Hi
I'm booked on VS019 in Premium Economy for a flight in mid-June. A friend of mine who works with Virgin has got me on the priority list for an upgrade to Upper but I understand I won't know if I can get this upgrade until I get to the gate.

Am I right in thinking that as long as Upper is not fully booked, I should have a good chance of getting in?

I know this route is busy, but is it likely Upper will be full on a mid-week departure?

Thanks for any tips or advice!

Welcome to the site.

I suppose it all depends on how much clout your friend has got at Virgin. 8D

If it is SRB, then - Sorted! y)

Other than that, there will more than likely be actual Virgin Atlantic staff who are in the same boat with a space available upgrade.

My advice would be to look upon a free upgrade as a MASSIVE bonus, and don't let it spoil your trip if it doesn't happen.

Thanks, good to be here!

Not quite SRB, but can't abuse the friendship too much. I've already got a good deal for the Prem. seat and upgrade request, but travelling alone I'd really like to get into Upper...

Having looked at seat availability, it seems economy is well booked and there are 16 seats left in Prem. so hopefully they'll have to bump a few up displacing me? I can but hope!
