Why would the scheduled hours for VS016 MCO to LGW be 7 hours now but more like 8.25 hours in June? From what I can see they are both 747's.
Are some flight plans deliberately slower to suit airport slots?

It's more downhill sometimes as the planet tilts on it's axis!

Also, there's a gravity assist due to some passing comets...

Ok smartarses, along a similar theme. ):

My return from Brisbane is at 20.45 on a Sunday night.
The non-stop flight is 14 hours 45 minutes.
I arrive Dubai at local time 5.30 am Monday.
My Dubai to London departs 7.45 am.

When I do my OLCI at 24 hours from the Brisbane departure, I can also check in for any connecting flight 36 hours from the time I do the OLCI.

So, in reality, I can check in for flights within 12 hours from the departure time from Brisbane.

The flight for Brisbane takes 14 hours 45 minutes minutes so no I obviously cannot check in for the Dubai-London leg.

However the flight from Dubai, because of time zones, actually leaves 11 hours after my flight from Brisbane departs so yes I obviously can check in for it.

So the question is which is it? Can I OLCI for the Dubai - London leg or not when I do OLCI 24 hours before my Brisbane flight.

I am prepared to consider the influence of comets and passing milk floats and the space time continuum and even pole dancers, actually particularly pole dancers!! ):

Thank you.

If you're on one ticket, you will be able to check in for Brisbane - Dubai - London all at the same time when OLCI opens for the first leg.

Only for flights within 36 hours of the time I do OLCI (these are Emirate flights)

The plane is slower to to the extra weight

(a) of all the shopping (all those new iPads!)
(b) the weight pax have put on during their holidays due to the large portions.

Well, I hear you get penguins at the south, and polar bears at the north doing the dancing.

Does that help?

Seriously though, it's a good question. I don't know the actual answer, but it will probably depend on how the OLCI system works and how it derives it's 36 hours - I'd be surprised if you weren't able to check in for both legs prior your Brisbane flight though...
