Hi, Just checked in for our VS 27 flight tormorrow.

So much for 40% of seats being unallocated until checkin v(

Got Seq 5 & 6, but there was just two other seats available to change to (and they were individual seats at each end of the plane)
So we are still stuck in the two middle seats of the AirBus :(!

Never ever experienced this before, I've always managed to swop our pre-requested seats. At least I managed to get PE on the way back when I made my original reservation.

Bye from a very disillusioned loyal VS traveller :(

Just because 40% of seats are held back, it doesn't always mean you will be able to swap seats.

If the flight is full and there are lots of families/groups etc that haven't been able to pre-select any of the 60% of the initial allocation, the system automatically allocates seats ensuring as many people as possible are sat together.

Ask at the airport as they might be able to change seats then for you.

I won't hold my breath Neil :D

Thank goodness we, as a family, have booked with BA for our Easter Trip. We then paid in advance for 'reserved seating'........ hopefully ii)

I don't get why disillusioned because the flight is full? It happens ... we've all been in poorer seats before, and the same could happen on any airline in the world.

This is a worry.

Travelling PE on VS15 soon, the seat map has been available for a week or so, but we are in row 81 and there are no seats currently available for requests in the bubble.

I'm checking daily, and will attempt to change at OLCI, but we'll have to see.

Fingers crossed you get something sorted at check-in...

I guess I am trying to say that I believed that when it is stated that 40% of seats are left unallocated until OLCI, then I thought I'd have a sight, tiny, small, or little bit of a chance of changing my original 'requested' seat.

So disillusioned, Yes that truly how I feel.

Sorry if my words do to not please. oo)

Doesn't the request system sometimes block off the entire front Y cabin when loads are light? Maybe I have imagined that. If I am right, though, you may find your flight isn't that full after all and you can swap on the plane or even at the airport.

Just checked the seating in economy for VS400 tomorrow night and the whole front section is now open. A good 7 hours before on line check in opens. Have managed to move from 55A&C to 32H&K. y) Will watch and see if on line check in opens early also.

Had a similar experience yesterday. My son and his partner flying on the VS27 today, was able to change seats 3 hours before OLCI opened. OLCI opened exactly 24 hours before flight though.

We are booked to travel on the 1st May on VS015. Because of the refit we have never had access to the seat map so will have to wait until OLCI to try and get 2 PE seat together. I will be checking daily to see if anything becomes available earlier but not expecting to be lucky. Frustrating but what can you do?

I guess that VS will know which aircraft will be used well before the olci opens so I would check pretty often.

I'm flying May 2 and I'm checking daily. You never know!

We were on VS15/16 recently in PE and only downstirs was available for the return. I read on here somewhere that Virgin Holidays reserve the front block on PE seats upstairs and they get released about an hour before online checkin opens.
It worked for us and I was able to move us upstairs just before online checkin and bag the seats y)

LTH - thanks, and I won't.

Aware of the VH thing - but I've never been unable to pre-select bubble seats before, so not sure what went on here.

Either they didn't release 40% for pre-requests, or this flight is filled with PE passengers far keener than I. I'm pretty sure the seat map hadn't been available for more than a day before I got to it (I was checking daily!!!).
