I had the second half of a trip in EC which was originally an M ticket. when i changed the dates it dropped to an O.

i was hoping to blag an upgrade with miles and whilst I know technically neither M or O can be used, if I pay to go to an L is the difference going to be much more? in other words is it worth making a fuss or just wait till the day ?

The thing is your new date fare will have been priced on an O, you could have requested an M for your new date but it would have been more expensive for you.Just because you were on an M before has no relevance on what they would price your new date fare in.

Of course you can ring and ask them to price it as an L, but I imagine it will be a fair bit more than your current O.

It is really irrelevant in terms of mileage upgrades, neither are eligible, and just because M is a closer fare to an L, it really wont make any difference.

M and O are quite a way apart in terms of Y buckets - so unless ticket prices had risen significantly since you originally booked, I would have expected a change of this sort to have actually generated a refund (or am I deluding myself here!!).

Certainly it would cost considerably more to upgrade yourself from O to L than from M to L. O really is the lowest you can get in Y...

You can work out the difference by pricing up an L fare via the booking form on this page, which can be forced to return an L-class fare:

However, it may be quicker to phone -- and sometimes the answer on the phone is less than the answer on the website

I am surprised no one has mentioned this already, but another big difference between M and O is that you'll earn fewer tier points -- 2 per sector rather than 3. I realise that not everyone cares about this, but I certainly would!
