Hi all, been following this forum for tips for awhile now, and now unfrotuantely have come across issues of my own.

I have a rewards booking on VS900 in PE this Friday (Class P), returning on 15th April on VS901 NRT-LHR in Economy (Class T).

I recently noticed that my return flight disappeared from Manage My Booking online. Called and was told that when I accepted a flight time change online 5 months ago, a system glith dropped my flight. It's since been added back, but my seat selection has been dropped!! When I check now, there are only 4 seats left in all of Economy and they're all terrible choices, last rows in the middle of 4. The operator says the flight may be overbooked and to wait for online check-in 24hrs before my return flight, as 40% of the aircraft will open up for seating and there should be better choices.

Is this true? Or will I run the risk of an overbooked flight and not have a seat at all? Should I just take one of the crappy seats now for safety?

Not very happy about this situation at all, especially as I am travelling with a friend and his reservation/seat selection is all fine. I've now lost my original seat next to his. :(!

Thanks for your help in advance

Absolutely true, emai. Hopefully you will find yourself a more suitable seat at OLCI. Do check earlier than that though - seats do sometimes come up before that point.

Oh, and welcome to V-flyer by the way. :)

By all means, select another seat for yourself now, there is no reason why you should not do that if it gives you peace of mind. You can always change it at OLCI - or before if seats become available.

What A/C type are you coming back home on?

If you are on a 346 , the first 6 or so rows in economy always remain blocked off until OLCI opens. You will see a lot more open seats once OLCI opens.

This exact situation has happened to me before and we were a party of 5, all managed to sit together once OLCI opened. You'll be fine. Just make sure you do OLCI as soon as it opens.

I thought twice before posting this, then thought I would want to know so that I can take any available action ... I am sorry to be the bearer of news, but it looks like your flight back is full:

J2 C2 D2 I2 Z1 W0 S0 H0 K0 Y1 B0 R0 L0 U0 M0 E0 Q0 X0 N0 O0

And the seat map shows as below:

Noting that the front rows do not appear for the reason mitchja says below. Definitely try OLCI, you could also ask VS to link your tickets to see if that helps to get you seated together, and I'd also get to the airport early and ask there if nothing works in advance - also do keep checking the seat map in your booking in case something changes.

for some reason, 41G suddenly became available earlier today. even though it's not next to my friend, it's an aisle seat, so i snapped it up for now. will see what happens at OLCI, but at least i have an aisle seat for now. not very happy about all this still as a long time customer of the airline!!
many thanks to everyone here for the quick replies and insights though.

Well done, emai, good snag. Slinky's linking suggestion is a good idea too, if VS will oblige :)

Just to emphasise that it is a seat request not a fixed reservation (even BA reseves the right to move people when when they have paid extra to 'reserve' a specific seat)
