Hi There

I am flying out of LHR PE on 5th June to Washington DC. This will be the first time I have flown on my own and I have to confess am a little nervous,I am not keen on turbulence :|

Normally when I fly with my husband we book one of the lounges at LHR, I thought as its just me that I might treat myself and book the virgin one, so question is can I do this? I am not a high flyer, only a red member so have no status :( so is this something I can do or is the lounge only for higher tiered members or those booking with VH.

Thanks in advance for your help :)

Hi - if you have booked direct with VS, then the only way to gain access to the CH will be if they are selling access on the day, which they sometimes do (it depends on how full they are expecting it to be) and it would cost £60 for entry.

The other way is as a guest of either a UC pax, or Au card holder, flying on the same day. Have a look in the itinerary forum and see if there are any other V-Flyers offering guest access on the same day as your flight(they will have an L next to their flight details if they are willing to take a guest with them).

Officially the CH is restricted to people flying UC or ar FC gold card holders. VH does sell a limited number of passes (£60) to people who have booked via them.

There has been some contradictory information re buying on the day access where it either not possible or asking at check-in and hoping its not busy and they will sell you access.

However, I guess you would prefer some certainty so I would suggest you book one of the general paid-for lounges - the Number 1 lounge has had some very good reviews and offers paid for spa treatments too

Thanks for both replies. I have looked at the calendar and no other v-flyers going out of heathrow that day. I didn't know people would take other people as their guest, that's an awfully nice thing to do for someone they don't know. I think I would feel a bit embarrassed to ask them especially as they would have really earned their flying status and right to be there. I will have a think and either book no 1 lounge in advance or wait to see if on the off chance they are selling entry to the club house on the day. If not it will be a few hours in Starbucks I guess.

Many thanks again for replying

It might be worth putting your itinerary on the calendar -- there are people who have lounge access to offer but who do not put all of their intineraries up there, and yet nevertheless keep an eye out for other v-flyers. You never know, you might be lucky...

If you can't get into the Clubhouse I would second the vote for the Number 1 lounge. Booked in there last month and it was a fine place to relax prior to boarding ^)
