The photo gallery used to be much more popular on V-Flyer than it is today, and at a recent moderators meeting (ok, booze-up!), it was suggested this is because in the old forum there was a thumbnail view at the bottom of the forum. So... I've added a mini-feature to the site this evening which displays a rotating carousel of the latest photos added to the site at the bottom of the forum pages again. Slight improvement over the old one is that the carousel means it displays more of the recent images and the tool-tips allow you to roll over the photo to see the title (note - we should all get better at giving our photos titles now they are more obvious!).

If you've set your photo stream to only show to members then they won't appear in the forum thumbnails - only the public images will display.

great feature Pete

If someome has also posted a description can that be shown too rather than the file name?

The description is what is shown. However, if someone uploads a photo but doesn't put a description in, the default is the file name.

Personally, I feel that one of the reasons the photos are under used on this site is due to how hard it is to navigate through them. Yes they are in albums from each user, but what would be nice (and quite a bit of work I suspect) is if you could search the images in different categories, for example, photos of the Upper Class cabin on the LGW fleet, or of the different clubhouses and shared lounges.

True - we could probably do better at the photo searching tools. At the moment the only real use of the photos is on the aircraft database pages where (if the photo has the appropriate A/C reg), it shows photos of that aircraft.

I'll take a look at it again in a few months and see if the extra visibility has improved the titles - in which case, it'll make it easier to add better search tools.

Pete, is the photo feed "Live" or are the thumbnails updated at certain intervals? Just asking as I added a couple photos the other day and they have yet to appear at the bottom.

It should be updating the photos twice a day; at around midnight and 6am. If your photos have any privacy restrictions, then they won't appear.
