Flight upgrade- how do points work?

Hi Everyone,

I am hoping to get some advice from some flying club virgin members on the website. I have recently upgraded my flight from PE to UC on my flight back from Johannesburg with points. I had a fare code S originally. With my upgrade I am now in fare code G. Will i still get the original miles for my PE fare or is it the case that now i have been upgraded to a G class fare i can collect no miles for this journey at all?

Hi,

You will still earn miles and TP's based on the S class PE fare. Because of the stupid Virgin system you will need to call them up after your flight to get them to manually add them.

having upgraded our last Virgin flight from PE to UC paying cash,I was a little disappointed to find I only got miles for the original "K class" PE booking,am looking to do same for next flight is a decent offer comes along

Did you upgrade on the day or in advance? If in advance you should receive full UC miles and TP's, if on the day, I'm not 100% sure what miles you are meant to earn, I would have personally thought UC, but ISTBC on that

If you upgraded to a Z, I, D or J fare then you should of got the relevant miles and tp's, not the orriginal fare. I'd say it's worth a call, if in the last 6 months.
