I decided to use 'The Lounge' which was ok, quiet and comfortable with a very good drink selection. I had decided as saturday would be a long day to make this a dry flight so stuck to water

got to the gate and had a 10 minute wait before UC and PE passengers called and then discovered I had left my jumper back in the lounge

PE started to fill and of course you then have the rat run as the rest of the plane stream through. always fun to watch the Americans who seem to try to push the 'one small piece of hand luggage' to the absolute limit, then bitch when it wont fit in the overhead locker...'oh I am sorry sir they arent designed to take the kitchen sink' !!!!!!!!!
the pilot came on the PA to announce a flight time of 6.14 and that we were just about fully boarded, and i still had no neighbour ! turned out 36 of the 38 PE seats were taken and the only 2 free ones were in 18

a very friendly welsh lady FA welcomed me on board with a smile and a 'champagne sir' and unfortunatley 'no thanks Im staying dry' translates in welsh to 'yes please

however i did refuse the refill offer, so ok just the one.
smooth take off and fairly quickly the combined food/drink run started. being first to get served i commented i hoped she had my first choice to which she replied 'well if we havent we are in trouble'

No thanks I am staying dry also means 'yup red is fine thanks' in welsh...funny language...ok yes I am very weak..
the salad was cack, beef stew very good, choccy mousse not half bad, red wine acceptable. and remnants quickly cleared away. HAving moved into the window seat I wedged myself in quite comfortably and managed to get a good 3-31/2 hours sleep which for me is a real result as I can rarely sleep on planes. woke up about 90 mins out, declined brekkie as I knew i would be getting a REAL full english at mums and settled in for a few laps of Guildford then the approach run up the thames with great views of the olympic stadium, and central london and a smooth touchdown.
with just a small bag I managed to be up and sneak behind the bar past my smiling welsh friend 'Go on jump off quick' and be first off the plane. no q at immigration, where a very miserable chap gave the usual warm greeting, joy of joys bag was 3 rd on carousel and I was through into the hall, much to my mates suprise, just over 15 minutes afte de-planing !
pleased to say this was one of those flights which when Virgin get it right its good, but as always its mainly down to the Fc and this particular young lady was as good as you get.
so saturday at footie with mates, a few days in cold old England and then back on Friday...........
