The upper deck will be half Premium and half economy. Found this seat map on the VS website which looks like the new 744 LGW/MAN config.

Erm, the seat map for the config 2 planes show the current layout. Either they are not changing or else VS have not updated the map

If you just click the link James provided then it does take you to the new config,however it doesn't have a config number so if you click off it you can't click straight back to it.

There is also a link to the same thing in The Dibb, so it definitely is there.

Neil, it was James's link I clicked and it said Config 1 and clicking on Config 2 showed the old map

the new seat map in that link says config LGW-1

Not a good move combining classes. I wonder who is responsible for market research

To find that new seat map, I clicked on one of the other seat maps first and then changed the web URL to end with 'type=16' So the map is there, it's just that there's no link to it yet.

This new layout will prove interesting;

All of downstairs PE will have to disembark before UC
Upstairs Economy will have to disembark before PE
No Economy toilet at the rear of the upper deck
The new downstairs cabin has the existing 2 toilets behind UC but only 1 next to row 19 in PE, which implies they are going to be shared v(

It's interesting that some people are so dead against the split upper deck. There are lots of reason its now going to be split. One of them is because the newly fitted aircraft has to conform to the strict disability acts in the UK and US. Airlines have to offer a certain percentage of seats available in all cabins to disabled passengers and currently the W cabin on the LGW aircraft is not up to code. The seats and the amount of seats are not complying to the acts. Hence the improved Super Seat (resigned slightly for the A330) being put in on the LGW 747 and the larger W cabin being put on the main deck. Other reasons are the use of space on the 747 is being used better having an increase to the aircraft seats by four in total. 14J/66W/375Y total 455 compared to the current 14J/58W/379Y or 380Y total 451.

I thought something like this was going to be on a sticky to avoid the 7 days a week 'whens the planes going to be refurbed' and later 'whens the new 330/dreamliner coming into service'.
