I have just got back on todays VS18 and noticed that there is a new mattress on the old UCS. Its quite a bit thicker and was definatly more comfortable. I am also pretty sure the pillow has changed as it felt firmer, which I liked.

I was on this flight too. :) I am going to do a trip report -- wonder if we will have the same opinions of it...

When you say mattress do you mean the padding on the bed itself or is it a new bottom pad (as found in the bag with the duvet) ?

When was your previous flight, Virginlondon? Just wondering what you're comparing against - my last few flights since March haven't had any different undersheet/pillow to previously, so would be interested if it's a new, new, thing as we should get that on Friday :)

Can confirm a new mattress topper and pillow are now on board in UC. They were not on my outbound flight on 3rd May but were on the return on 13th May and the crew said they were introduced very recently.

Thew new topper is foam based so is softer and thicker - very welcome.

Had them on our VS23 yesterday - a VERY welcome improvement.
Pillow nice and firm, and the topper is now thick enough (with the foam inside) to hide the join of the mattress.

Might even do away with my "under-duvet-trick" as a result!

Just one thing... WHY oh why do they insist on making a custom-fitted mattress topper 9" too short to actually fit the suite?! Was the same with the old one, but it does make me laugh....
