Hi,

Does anybody know the entertainment setup for exit row seats? Is it a screen in the armrest usually? I only ask as last year we flew to Orlando in the upper deck economy section and the first row had to use portable DVD players on their laps?!?

Thanks

The IFE TVScreen is normallly folded down between the seats for take off and landing.

Exit row seats tend to be just a tad narrower as a result

Buns is right, the IFE is generally folded down in the armrest on most exit row seats. There is one 744, Mustang Sally (VROC) which does not have this in the upper deck in row 75. On that aircraft they hand out portable DVDs to those who want them. If the cabin is not full, they will also suggest you move back to a seat with IFE.

It does mean they cannot allocate those seats at check-in (unless the a/c is completely full in which case they have an override). They appear as "U-blocked" on the check-in screens.

I believe all the other 744s have the normal IFE in the upper deck economy in.

On A/C with V:Port, in economy you may find inoperable IFE screens in exit rows and bulk-head seats due to the design of the seat and IFE screen storage location.

The screen doesn't actually fold into the arm rest with V:Port as it's too big, so it folds down under the seat with the LCD screen facing outwards and so is prone to getting knocked and kicked with feet/bags etc.

I've been on several V:Port A/C in economy bulk head rows and exit rows only to find the IFE screen broken.

PE exit row/bulk head seats are OK though as there is enough room in-between the seats to store the larger V:Port IFE screen.

Isn't there an FAA Requirement for exit row seats to be occupied?

for take off and landing

I have been asked before if I would move into an empty exit row seat, but moved back to my original seat after take off
