A complicated question so I'll throw it out to the masters

I made a booking using bmi miles, outward upper class, return premium economy (P)

However, having just been offered a job I may need to cut my trip short.

Is it ever possible to change reward flights for a fee, or would I have to buy an extremely high priced one way fare!

yes it is possible but you need to phone VS. There would need to be reward availability on your new date though. Not sure what the fee is though.

I'd check with your new employer first - most reasonable ones will be prepared to wait for a few days especially if it was a trip booked before you were offered the job.

T&C's 4.2.1 says £25 for flights originating in UK, $50 for flights originating in the US and $50 equivalent in local currency everywhere else.

Changing is a far better option than cancelling as you lose miles cancelling. As Tonty points out, your biggest challenge will be availability on your new date.

All sorted now, I would however be interested to know if I could upgrade to upper by paying a fee, or is this not possible on a miles booking?
