We have tried to check-in for our PE, VS74 flight MCO to MAN, we are about 23 hours to go before deperture, the check-in screen is now telling me "Unfortunately you cannot check-in for this flight etc" go to Airport check-in at least 2 hours before departure. This is inspite of the general screen for all flights telling me that VS74 is open. What is going on? ?|
General consensus is usually that it's either a glitch, in which case just keep trying, or you are unlucky enough to have the same name as somebody on a watch list, in which case you just have to check in at the airport.
Or there is an outstanding payment on your account (such as when you have done an upgrade and the call centre still hasn't taken the credit card payment). You'll have to check in at the airport and maybe visit the Ticketing Desk to pay the remaining balance.
When I raised this before, I had loads of "hardened" replies, never a problem, must be unlucky etc, etc. Strange how its raised its ugly head again. Virgin customer services and facilities are plummeting. Sad, it was all so good.

This is quite a regular issue. It happens for a number of reasons some of which might be down to VS (IT glitch, change of plane, overbooking, problem with the booking) and others to external factors (i.e, if the UKBA wants VS to do extra checks because of e.g. a watch list issue).
Sometimes the best advice is just to give it another go an hour or so later.
Am not sure that 'its raised its ugly head again' is a sign of plummeting customer service though. Sometimes stuff happens !
Huzzah for International Jet-setting !
Thanks everyone for replies,I tried again at 8.20 EST and same thing, Oh well! just have to get to airport a little earlier,
