Does anyone know when the earliest I can reserve seats leaving 14th August 2012 on flight VS93 lgw to Cancun is? I have booked through The Holiday Place and not Virgin. Any info would be greatly appreciated as although I can see from the seating plan there are plenty of good ones 10 hours in the wrong seat is not something to look forward too lol

What cabin are you flying in?

There is a restriction on PE sear REQUESTS due to the refits and will only be available when OLCI opens.

In the other cabins if you can't request now it means that the 60% of seats available to pre-request have been taken so again you will have to wait until OLCI opens.

If you have your PNR which is a 6 digit alpha-numeric reference you can go into the Manage my Booking page on the website straight away. If you haven't got it ask your travel agent for it.

The only people who can't select (not reserve. Seats are never guaranteed although requests are generally honoured) are those travelling in PE as the configuration of the cabin is being changed

Thanks to you both for the swift reply. We are traveling in economy and I will ask about the PNR but I do recall them saying the tickets are issued on 24th July? Maybe I will need to wait until closer to the time. Hard not to think about it though am counting down the days.... :)

The PNR will be available as soon as you have a confirmed booking, although you'll have to ring up VS and quote that reference to get them to help with seat allocations, as it the booking isn't accessible on the website until the tickets have actually been issued - which is a frequent irritant to me given that travel agents generally don't issue until a few weeks before travel...

Perhaps VH operates differently, but I could use a VH issued PNR on the VS website from the day I received it 5 months ago, after the payment of only the deposit, for a trip that's still 7 weeks away...

Just a quick update once I had the PNR I was able to pay for extra legroom seats and MAY be able to upgrade to exit row seats if available when check in opens 24 hrs before.
One step closer :D

VH have a work-around in place within the VS system so you can see your VS flight bookings as soon as you make the VH booking (as long as it's within the 11 month window)

I booked a VH fly-drive for New Year online the other week, rang VH for my VS PNR (VS will not talk to you if you book via an agent due to data protection rules) and I could see my VS booking straight away.
