Hi All,

Haven't used VS for a while as I've been working on my Gold card with BA. We've decided to use them for a trip to NYC in August though and thought we'd try the Drive Through Check In. To keep it simple we thought we'd use Tristar but wanted to ask do VS still use these guys and if there were any other tips you could give us.

Thanks in advance.

Yes they still use Tristar and it's a great way to arrive. The Tristar cars are tracked by GPS so the DTCI folks know you exactly when you are arriving. I've done it with Tristar and with my own car + Purple Parking driver and it's smooth both ways.

You can use any car service now, yes VS still uses Tristar and if their cost doesn't scare you then it is the easiest because their booking system is accessible somehow by VS so all you need to do is give VS your six digit Tristar confirmation.

Otherwise, phone the Premier Service Team to confirm you want to use it, you;ll need to give them an arrival time and also confirm the car registration prior to arrival (I can't recall the lead time required).

Request for a slot is 12 hrs before your flight

Provision of details is 30 mins before your arrival slot - when I last used DTCI I was in the taxi on the phone telling them the make etc - but obviosuly it makes life easier the more notice you give them.
As per DTCI page

Thanks for the replys guys, as ever you are the font of knowledge for all things VS.

I think I'll use Tristar as it sounds like it'll cut the hassle factor.

Thanks

I wouldn't recommend bringing your own car in there at the moment either. The building site next to the wing is encroaching more and more, to the point where my driver on Tuesday night had to weave in between concrete breeze blocks to get to even the traffic lights...!

He mentioned it's been getting worse, with no end in sight. I was surprised the Volvo actually managed to fit in the width that remained of the original entranceway.

There's a ruddy great concrete ramp coming down from T2 departures ... looks huge and one wonders how it will work with traffic heading into T3 and the UCW.
