We are flying from EDI to LAX with VS and thanks to the recent seat sale we are going UC.

With the merger of BMI and BA it's becoming very confusing! We were booked with BMI for the EDI leg but this booking has now switched to BA. The BA website shows that we are travelling business for the domestic flights.

Does anyone know if this means we have all the privileges of flying BA business such as lounge access at EDI and LHR for the return leg? And if we do is it the BA or BMI lounge?

if your booking is now BA & its business class then i'd fully assume you will have access to BA's business lounges.

also i'd assume the BMI lounges in LHR T1 are now being managed by BA & accesible to BMI or BA pax?

Depends which terminal you fly to:

T5 Galleries
T1 (former BMI) the BMI lounge there

Plus of course the VS Clubhouse at T3 :D .

Now isn't that a good idea! Can you use it on arrival at LHR?

After your EDI->LHR flight, yes.

After your LAX->LHR flight, no, but you can use Revivals.

I read on flyertalk that BA is planing on keeping both the BA and BMI lounges at EDI but changing the allocation of which type of pax (ticket and status) are allocated to which lounge.

My flight at the end of August booked through BA to fly BD in economy has now had a change of flight number (BD582 is now BA8107) and manage my booking is showing that I have been bumped up to business class on this sector.

Would be interesting to know whether re-numbered flights are BA service (free drinks) and if this gives me access to the BA or BD lounge at Manchester.

Depending on which LAX you're on.

VS08 - Yes
VS24 - No, as it will be closed then.

Seems like there is a lot of uncertainty in the BMI to BA switch. I'm sure we'll find out more as people start to experience it.

We're on VS24 so a shower after that would be great. Here's hoping we get into one of the lounges!

Exactly the same has happened to me. Booked economy on BD. Booking moved to BA as business.
Interesting to see how this works out :)

Just been looking at the ba website. We have now been downgraded to economy. Is this normal if you've booked a through ticket for upper class?

What did your original ticket/booking say?

Just because your main flight is in UC/Business class does not automatically mean that the connecting ones are in Business class.

My rewards G ticket booked through BMI Destination Points shows economy on BA. Still shows S UC on VS. I think that the G fares have not been translated properly.
Also happened to a friend and when fe flew, everything was fine and tere was no issue.
Is yours a reward ticket?

Not a reward ticket. It was a K fare that we upgraded to Z in the sale. I'm wondering if it is maybe just the VS leg that has therefore been upgraded? If that's the case it would be quite annoying to have a 3 bag allowance with VS but only be able to take 1!

If your trip is all on one PNR/ticket then you will get the 3 bag allowance even on the BA connecting flight(s)

On some airlines, there used to be a policy that even if the tickets were not on the same PNR, but the flights were close together (I can't remember but it may have been twelve hours) that they would honour the larger baggage allowance on the other flight.
I used this once with flybe. And even had an email from them when I contacted them to ask the question.
Is this still the case, specifically with BA?
Thanks
