Hoping a Qantas guru here may be able to help: A family friend has had 23,000 Qantas miles sitting around for a while that she says are going to expire. She's interested to know 'what they're worth'? Can they possibly be exchanged for BA Avios under One World? From a QF upgrade aspect what could she do with them?

Any advice would be appreciated?

Thanks
James

They can't be directly exchanged to BA Avios miles but they can be spent on BA flights.

For example a Qantas reward on BA MAN>LHR return would be 20,000 QF miles (which is a bit of a rip-off as the same return flight booked with BA Avios miles would only be 9000 miles)

eg BA London - Munich Y return 20,000

The QF website has lists of points for upgrades (but they are for QF domestic or international - no mention of partners/oneworld).

From experience here in Oz the Y to J upgrades are quite good value but don't know how or if this would work if used on eg BA.
